Ceruledge Ceruledge Tier 2 Aggro Stage 1

Expanded has always had a place for aggressive decks that rely on Basic Energy, which makes them harder to disrupt. Ceruledge exCeruledge ex is currently the most effective among these decks. By drawing and discarding Energy with cards such as Fiery FlintFiery Flint, Heat Factory ◇Heat Factory ◇ and Battle Compressor Team Flare GearBattle Compressor Team Flare Gear, it is possible to build Abyssal Flames' damage very fast. Then, Ceruledge only needs one Basic Energy to attack, which is very easy to find. This means that disruptive cards, whether they're hand disruption (IonoIono), Item lock (Noivern GXNoivern GX), Ability lock (GarbodorGarbodor), etc., won't be very effective as Ceruledge will still be able to attack each turn.

The deck can also attack on turn 1 going second with WallyWally, and can use the unique Lysandre ◇Lysandre ◇ to send opponent's cards to the Lost Zone, whether they're ArcheopsArcheops before Lugia VSTARLugia VSTAR can use Summoning Star, attackers in Regidrago Regidrago, or simply 1-of Supporters that won't be able to be recovered with VS SeekerVS Seeker.

Ceruledge is easy to pick up and that makes it particularly recommended for beginners, but it is also a strong deck in its own right that can definitely take down tournaments. It is fairly linear, though, so it can struggle against some strategies. For example, while one-Prize attacking decks are rare in Expanded, they would definitely have a strong matchup against most versions of Ceruledge because they would simply win the Prize race.
