Welder Box Basic Aggro Toolbox

Released in 2019, Welder briefly became the most important Supporter in the Standard format, with the top 4 of Worlds 2019 famously having four different archetypes that all relied on Welder as their main Supporter. Energy acceleration combined with draw power is strong, as it turns out, and it would remain strong (though not as dominant) until the card finally rotated.

Welder never had the same dominance in Expanded. While it is a good card, playing a Supporter always has the opportunity cost of not playing another Supporter. In 2019 Standard, that opportunity cost was low, as the format didn't have a lot of great Supporters. In Expanded, of course, playing Welder means passing on Guzma, Lillie's Determination, Iono, etc.

Still, there are enough good attackers in the format that really appreciate getting three Fire Energy in a turn (two from Welder, one from the natural attachment), and enough Fire support cards such as Heat Factory ◇, that Welder Box remains a playable archetype.
