Arceus & Dialga & Palkia GX
, also known as ADP, was one of the most hated cards of all time. Its unique attack, Altered Creation GX, defined the Standard meta for a while by making one-Prize decks basically unplayable. In Expanded, it gets even better : Double Dragon Energy
allows it to use that attack on turn 1, very reliably.
That's the theory, at least. In reality, however, ADP is not as fearsome as you might expect, for a few reasons. First, Altered Creation GX gets hard countered by Pokémon Ranger
, so it's only worth using that attack if the opponent doesn't play it. Also, while ADP is not a frail Pokémon by any means, it's not very tanky for a 3-Prize Pokémon, especially since Lillie's Clefairy ex
is a fairly common card in the format.
Despite that, ADP maintains a small presence in the format alongside aggressive attackers. These decks can typically play without ADP and simply advance their Prize map by taking a KO instead of Altered Creation GX, but there are benefits to having it as an option.
